In pursuing global prosperity, the G20 Brazil plays a pivotal role in recognizing and addressing the intricate interplay between food security, disaster risk reduction, energy transitions, financing of public goods, and governance reform. The world faces challenges: climate change threatens agricultural productivity, increasing the risk of food insecurity and malnutrition. Disasters disrupt food and energy systems and disproportionately impact vulnerable populations in the global south. Addressing these challenges requires a holistic approach and global governance reform.
This high-level T20 side event, held during G20 Brazil, will celebrate and explore how the emerging economies of the Global South are uniquely positioned to lead the way towards building resilient economic systems. Through promoting innovation, inclusion, and international cooperation, these economies are inspiring a new era of global resilience. The events will foster dialogue on:
This event is a one-day hybrid Forum designed to be highly interactive. It will comprise keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities. These elements are carefully structured to comprehensively understand the issues and foster meaningful dialogue. It will feature insights from policymakers, experts, practitioners, civil society representatives, and private sector leaders.
This side event will be co-organized by the Brazilian Institute for Advanced Studies, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Colégio Brasileiro de Altos Estudos, CBAE-UFRJ) the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
